The design of this is just adorable:  like a dolly-sized professional make-up artist’s box.  (The two quarters ‘swing out’ sideways, to reveal the luminous highlighter below.

The eight shades are brilliant spins on classic neutrals, with three shimmering shades to set the eyes sparklingly and flatteringly alight.  (Trust us:  the Christmas party is no place for a matte eye.  If you can’t glimmer under the mistletoe, where can you…?)  Think:  silver-y mauve, pearlised grey plum, light grey, medium grey-violet, a deep, dark, sexy brown-black, for smokin’ eyes – and more.)

The shimmer powder itself looks pretty when very, very lightly dusted over the décolletage with a big, fat, fluffy brush – if you don’t want to apply it to cheeks.

It’s limited edition, so be quick.  Because this is something that grown-up dolls and Bobbi fans everywhere are going to want to get their hands on.

‘Cos she’s done it AGAIN.

We say:  if you dig a touch of gold, then run-don’t- walk to one of the Chanel counters listed below, today.

Because this exquisite limited shimmer powder’s on sale from this morning, within the beautiful collection created by their in-house make-up pro Peter Phillips and inspired by the Paris-Bombay catwalk extravaganza.  (It was truly one of the most extraordinary Chanel blockbusters yet – worth watching on their website if you want to wallow in total glamour for 17 minutes or so.  We’re loving some of the Indian/indie/soft techno background music, too.  Just click here to view the show…)

The powder’s surface looks, as you can see, like a gold brocade fabric.  But whisk a brush over the surface and apply to skin – shoulders, décolletage, even shins (the late Princess of Wales knew that trick) for gold-dusted, glamorous, gleaming skin.  Alternatively, add a fairy-touch to brow-bones, for instant eye-opening illumination.

We have a hunch this is going to sell out in record time.

So you’d better Usain Bolt for it.

UK readers find Chanel Route des Indes de Chanel Illuminating Powder with Shimmer/£48 at Chanel boutiques in Harrods, Selfridges W1 and Manchester Exchange, House of Fraser Glasgow and Fenwick Newcastle
